"This is now our 26th year!"

We meet every 3rd Monday of the month at the Unitarian Church, Clover Street, off Spotland Road, Rochdale from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Family, children and friends all welcome. The group also offers listening and responding, offering emotional support and provide opportunities to share experiences and practical help. We offer one to one contact and arrange Social Evenings and many others. We provide information, videos, relaxation tapes, help with Benefit Forms, Travel Vouchers and Concessionary Bus Passes. Our leaflets are provided by the National Society for Epilepsy covering the following subjects:-

We do fundraising and raffles throughout the year. £130.00 raised for 2004 calenders this year will go to the NSE towards their new 3T MRI Scanner which in total costs £1.5 million pounds. An MRI Scanner has magnets with twice the power of previous scanners and these are available for clinical scanners together with improved support technology. To progress further and to identify more subtle abnormalities of brain structure and function, as well as chemical imbalances, we need to re-equip with the very latest technology. Only then can we continue our mission to understand the causes and consequences of epilepsy and pursue better and more effective treatments. This could then lead to radical changes in therapy and treatment including neurosurgery.

A donation of £500.00 which ROBES received at the end of 2003 will now be donated to Hope Hospital towards a TV and Video for training purposes, which will record seizures.

In the past we have raised money for Seizure Alert Dogs and other Charities. The cost of training these dogs is between £5000 and £6000. Previous money donated to the Support Dogs is now training a dog called 'Poppy', which is now supported by all members of ROBES. We have a video for hire showing how the Support Dogs are trained. dog

We are also members of the CVS in Oldham and Bury.

caravan We are also members of ARCH (Associated Rochdale Charities for the Disabled). As you can see from the picture ARCH have a beautiful 5 berth caravan which clearly shows the dining and sitting room which has a TV and Hi-fi system. This caravan is available for rent at just £150 per week and is situated at the well known Cala Gran site in Fleetwood. The site also has plenty of entertaining both day and night for people with or without children.

The caravan has full disabled facilities including a wheelchair ramp. The rent includes all gas and electric as well as passes and permits to the numerous facilities provided on the site. The caravan is available to any disabled people and their families. This is a non profit making concern and all monies go back into the upkeep of the caravan. For more details contact Charlie Hill (Chairman of ARCH) on 07763 331491.

ARCH are holding a Disco at the Ronald Gorton Centre on Great George Street in Rochdale on Saturday 17 April 2004 and 6 November 2004 at the price of £2.00, including a supper and licensed bar from 7.00 pm until 10.30 pm. The Disco has tremendous music and DJ with raffle prizes.
